spun prop

I have a 95 60hp Mercury and took it out today, it ran fine for about 2 minutes the went racing like the prop is spun, I will mark it and see if it moves, if it does not move then what. Is it the gears in the lower unit? as long as I go half throttle it will be fine, only if I try to go too fast will it do that.

Check the gearlube to be safe, but gears go completely when they go.

i had a defective prop on my old '86 mariner do something very similar to what you are describing. but i ordered a different prop and that solved it. hope this helps
