I have a 2006 Tracker Q4 (19.6") with the 4.3 mercruiser i/o engine. Currently have a 14x23 aluminum prop. Looking to replace with stainless.
I have had this boat 4 years and always have issues with getting out of hole, planing out and porposing. Spoke with Tracker about these issues and I am not sold on there advice.
They suggested a 13.75x21 stainless. Will this correct the planing issue and the bouncing issue? I have never had a boat that struggles to plane out. Also trying to determine what is the best prop for the money. Solas, Michigan Wheel, Vengeance, Stilleto?

Re: stainless props

Welcome to iboats

You need to know your WOT rpms before you start prop playing.
Changing props can give you better hole shot, but will lower your top speed.
You can have better low end torque, for towing. Better mid-range hole shot. Or shoot maximum top speed, but you can't have all 3. There is always a trade off when swapping props.
Planing and porposing is more of a function of the trim and if you know how to use it.

This should probably get moved to the prop section.

Re: stainless props

As suggested we need your present max rpm and speed.Going from al to ss can be some what of a gamble. Could get excellent response to a few tenths speed improve ment. Its not necessary to go ss for excellent results. We have some real experts here that can make some good suggestions.

Re: stainless props

After talking with a representative with Tracker boats. The manaufacturer of my boat he suggested I go with a Vengeance which they currently put on this boat in the SS form of prop. For the money and technology and the best overall advice. What differences are there in Vengeance compared to Michigan Wheel Apollo compared to Solas New Saturn compared to Stiletto. What is the best bang for the dollar.
