stalling out at low idle??!!!??

i have a 1992 sea ray, with a 350 mercruiser 5.7 260hp
it stalls out at low idle. what would cause this?????
last year i temporarily fixed the problem by adjusting the idle(a little screw that needed a star key) but it started doing it again. this year it still does it? any help to why this would happen? engine has a carburetor if that helps

have you tried cleaning the carb or checking the spark plugs? I'm not an expert on engines, but mine use to do the same thing ('96 Crownline 202BR w/ small block 350) cleaned the carb and it's running much better. However, I will probably do a carb rebuild at the end of the season.
