stalls after high rpms coupl sec... frustrated

I own a volvo penta 125 a or b. Not sure. Ran great last sason. First trip this year stalls after it goes over 3300rpms. Idle to 3000 rpms runs great.

specs..

spark. has a aftermarkert elctric distributor
* replaced
plugs (.35 gap)
wires
rotor
cap
soloniod

Gas
replace water seperator filter
removed cone filter in pick up last year
drained carb( solex 1 barrel)
checked float( half full)
check jet (clean)

Tried timing no change.

If you need more info PLEASE ask. Need help on this one

My first guess would be mechanical advance on distributor.
Check timing at idle, 1000 rpm, 2000 rpm, 3000 rpm.
Second guess is bad/old gas.
Third, re-clean that carb internals.

Are you sure that plug gap is right for your ignition/coil?

Will try timing first. Run through carb. Have ran 12 out of 20 gallons so far with one pint of Sea Foam in it. Gonna run it dry. Replace water seperator filter. Run 10gallons with another pint of Sea Foam. The plug size came from old owner. Had it on a legal pad of boat info. The factory distributor ( with exturnal points) is .28 . Old owner put in a electronic one in and I think it is right? Old spugs were at .35

Also going to replace anti siphon valve at tank.
