Re: Starcraft 16' SS restoration

Well......... a couple more weeks of work and I think I have everything except seats!!

Finished off the bow area with some carpet on the sides, and a piece to enclose the very front of the bow.

I wish my dealer would call and tell me my motor is here.
Everyone have a good 4th weekend and enjoy your boats if you can, I will be sitting in the driveway making motor noises!!!

I am a little reserved that it will show up in time for it to be but on and useable for the holiday. I do think that 3 weeks is a bit much to wait for a motor to ship across the country. Heck, I would have went and picked it up for them to save the freight!!!

you would have thought 3-5 days if it were a big city to big city, ship and del. than add a few days for more rural areas. it helps if you had a commerical place to del it to, if it's going to your home add more time. have you tried tracking it, most transports have that option

Re: Starcraft 16' SS restoration

Well................Finally made it!!!!!!!!!!
The boat is on the water!!! Pics coming soon I promise.

Got my motor installed and have been out breaking it in, but there iare a couple of things I have noticed.

If I trim the motor up to try and raise the nose a little higher the boat starts to porpoise up and down and will not quit till I trim the motor all the way down. There just does not seem to be very much adjustment.

There is also a huge, I'm talking 15-20' tall rooster tail that is coming from my depth finder transducer. Any suggestions as to how to get that to stop??

Other than these 2 issues I could not be happier with my brand new 40 yr old boat. It sure gets alot of compliments at the dock, gas station, corner store, or just in traffic.

I will get some pics up of the completed rig in the next couple of days, right now I need to deal with a wicked sunburn!!

I hear ya on the porpoising...been there myself in my SS. The rig looks great though, maybe try mounting the transducer in a different spot, do you have any photos?

That motor is beautiful!! Did you get a chance to run it on GPS? Now you need a tach ;)

I am going to add SPLASHED to your restoration title :D

Thanks Bob, Got a tach on the motor but am not sure it is reading correctly. At WOT it is only reading 3300 rpm, but I am getting 37mph on GPS.

When I cycle the key switch the tach only reads 4000, the owners manual says I should be getting 5000 to 5750 RPM. I am not sure what the problem is.:(

What year is your motor? 2012? If so, the gear ratio is 2.33. I plugged it into prop calc using 5800rpm and 17p prop(i guessed)= 36mph
