Starcraft Falcon Transom?

After a couple of years, the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has deemed fit to finally grant me a title and registration for my 1970 Starcraft Falcon. I won't be doing anything until I have it in my greedy little hands, but I do want to start planning. My question is, the transom seems very sturdy. The floor needs to be replaced. How do I tell if the transom is rotten?

drill some holes 1" deep and look at the shavings. 1/4" ought to big enough. if good then fill holes with 3M 5200. but, at 43 years old i'd replace it even if it seems good.

Pics always help us to help you. If you plan on keep her for any length of time and depending on how the transom is installed, I would agree with George that she probably needs to be replaced. If it's just a matter of removing the corner caps and the top cap, drilling out some rivets and sliding her out then by all means I'd replace it.

The best way would be to pull it out and have a look. The first place it's going to rot is on the backside against your transom metal, and if water has been trapped there you'll probably have corrosive pitting on the metal too where the wood was up against the metal (this is very common for older tinnies).
