Starcraft Starchief VIO?

Looking at picking up a 18' starcraft starchief VIO (or V10, hard to say which way it's printed on the tag) And the S/N is 68 4796. Safe to assume this is a 68 model? It looks alot like a cheiftain but it's labeled as a starchief. Comes with a bad Mercruiser 120.

In the brochures link found on the main page of the Starcraft forum, there's a Starchief-V 18 with all the specs listed. I'm assuming the IO is for inboard/outboard to differentiate between the OB or outboard model. I'd be willing to bet your assumption about it being a "68 Starchief is correct.

Yeah a chief is a chief big or small, just different names for the years well except for the itchy model I think it's a Sunchief.

What's the plan for the old gal anyway?

I saw an ad for a Starchief....but it was not a cuddy...it was a closed bow.... but the pop up cover on the center of the bow was there....so I must have been an older conversion....boat looked clean and good..... and it looked factory!

Restore for a cruiser. I already have a 22' Chieftain that I picked up as a project. So this will be a nice "model" to go by to see what's missing and what I can use as templates. Also looking at a Starcraft TR-150 (I think that's what it was called before a capri) for a smaller jumping jack. It's a sickness I tell ya.....

Picking up the old gal today. It doesn't have the top windshield though. Was that the same windshield from other starcrafts of the same era?

No the WS for the Chiefs are designed just for them. There is a guy here that has his WS still after he deleted it from his build if you're interested in getting one back on that's your only hope.
