I'll be redoing the transom on my sfm 190 in the off season mainly for peace of mind as I run it in the bay slop. Anyway I noticed my lowes no longer has aruco ply ? spelling. I found kiln dried CCA marine grade fir for $65/sheet locally. My question is can you seal this wood with epoxy and is it reactive with aluminum? I got mixed opinions on its reactivity with aluminum. They didn't mention selling non treated or I would buy that. I'll try the boat manufacturer tommorow, they make pontoons and bay boats and have a repair facility so they should be able to offer some guidance.

I would fear the CCA stuff. Is there a local lumberyard/builder supply that would have AC plywood? Or even BC would be fine. There is also MDO which is a little harder to find but has a waterproof 'skin'. It's priced about midway between AC and marine grade.

Good advice above. Do not waste your time or money on PT. Why spend all the money and time on sealing it, when no matter how well you do it, you will still run the chance of it corroding your boat? Also, if you go the route of MDO (medium density overlay) make sure it is MDO (signboard) and not MDF (medium density fiber board).

There's supposed to be some places in Birmingham to get good plywood that I found on a woodworkers forum but they're wholesale and don't want the hassle of selling to the public but will do so on occasion if you know exactly what you want. My only other option that I'm aware of is in Mobile they sell marine grade fir and ext grade ac fir.

Yah, if you can't grab Arauco than jump up to Marine Grade or grab exterior and seal it up.

The exterior grade is gone for a while till they rebuild the plant that burned down, may need to bite the bullet on the marine grade.
