Starter brace location?

96 4.3 merc.. Anyone ever use a starter brace? Where does it connect on the engine block? Looks like the only thing close is the drain plug, but my starter is too short and stops about 2" before the plug.. Should I look for a longer starter or something if I want to use a brace?

If you have the gear drive starter you don't use it. If not you need the long twisty brace.

my bolt mount broke and I fixed it with a lot of kwik steel JB weld to get me through this season hopefully.. I want to put the brace on to take away some of the torque so it doesn't break again so easy.

Also you are supposed to use NEW starter bolts when you take the starter off. They have a knurled band to keep the starter in place.
