I finally got my engine to start up but only for a few seconds. She sounded like he wanted to go but shut off when i closed the choke. Then wouldn't start up again. I want to see if I use a starting fluid or premix very very sparenly to see if I can get it started. I have a 2003 yamaha 2 stroke. If I do end up using a premix is it still 50 to 1? Any tips? Thanks

Re: Starting fluid or premix

Ok so I went to the boat this morning and I didn't use the starting fluid. I think my problem is either due to inefficient ilfuel delivery or clogged jets in the carb. What is a signal of clogged carbs? I can't imagine the carbs gettin clogged from one off season with treated fuel? Could they get clogged in one off season? And my carbs were cleaned last season. So what could I do to see if its the carb? Thanks guys

Don't use starting fluid id doesn't have any lubrication in it and you can score a cylinder. Get a spray bottle and fill it with 50 to 1 pre mix. Spray it down all the carb throats and then try to crank it while continuing to spray each card up and down. It should fire up and run as long as you keep spraying.
