A friend of mine called and he does not have acsess to a computer. so i told him i would ask you very knowladgable guys on this site. He has a 92 sea ray with a 3.0 - 4 cylinder motor I/O he say's when you try and start the boat you have to hold the ignition key on to keep the boat running. he has replaced the ignition switch already and the same thing. Any Thoughts. Thanks

Re: Starting issues ?

do you mean he has to old it right round to 'start' position

bad for the starter and bendix if so

has he checked for continuity between the 'run' wire on the ignition switch and the coil?

sounds like the coil is only getting power at 'start' position.

you could try direct 12v from the battery to the coil and see if it will run without holding the starter motor on with the key

good luck

That won't work if he has the EST or DDIS systems.
