I have a 1987 Chris Craft with a 3,0 Mercruiser. Lately the engine has started fine first time in the morning. After that won?t crank ? one or two turns. I checked battery voltage ? 12.4 V. Same voltage at the starter, I trickle charged it overnight. Same thing the next day. The battery is less than a year old, so I brought it to the store ? they tested it and found it too be good. Can anyone suggest a course of action?

Thanks for your help!

I replaced a faulty battery cable prior to the problem occuring. I checked the power and ground connections from the battery to the starter and coil, and alternator - no corrosion minimal voltage drop!
