I have a 1995 Bayliner with a 120hp Force 2 stroke engine. I took it out two weeks ago with a full tank of oil/gas mix. I mixed a little more 30:1 mix than my usual 50:1 but it ran fine the day I filled it up. Now two weeks after sitting out in the hot sun it won't start. I thought it was the battery so I got a new one. After a few minutes of cranking the key the new batter seems to run out of juice. It just won't turn over. Any suggestions?

Thank
Rommel

Re: Starting Problems

Just to update whoever viewed or will view my post in the future, I found that my gapless sparkplugs was causing my starting problem. It was covered with oil residue. I replaced all four of them and everything worked fine. Thanks to this site I saved myself the cost of taking it to the dealer for repair.

Glad you figured it out. You have learned a valuable lesson, if a motor requires 50:1, that is what you go with. More is not always better in life, and especially in gas/oil mix. Happy boating...

Re: Starting Problems

Had a similar issue with my Suzuki 6 Aux last year, And it's more attributed to your 30:1 rather than plug type. The Suzi has normal type plugs, but the hot whether evaporated the fuel leaving oil on the plugs and there was no way it would start until I thoroughly dried and cleaned them. 30:1, will increase the ammount of oil residue left there.
BTW.. Jason.. You're not by any change trying to bait someone are you ??? :D :D
