Re: Starting Suzuki Dt8

Hi,

I got it to start, but not easy. It has new spark plugs. It would take 5 cranks or more to start. And once starts, I can leave it running if I keep the gas between slow and the middle(start position). If I leave at slow it will turn off by itself.
I had it ran for 10 min., but still do the same. Does not start in one or two crank. Please advice. Poss carb. rebuild kit or any adjustment on the carb. that I can do. Thanks.

well yeah it seems like you need to do a proper carb rebuild, take carbs off, soak in carb cleaner for a couple of hours and blow out wit compressed air .... the air/fuel screw mix should be turn inwards to soft stop then outwards 1 1/2 turns .....

Thanks,
I will try that. You mentioned rebuilt carb., or should I try to clean it first like you suggested. When you said turn the air/fuel inward, you meant clockwise?

well, I would say clean it first .... they say it is better to rebuild but I must say with all honesty I have never done that, always just cleaned properly and never had a problem .... soak in carb cleaner for a couple of hours and then blow out with compressed air ..... the air/ fuel screw needs to be turned closed (clockwise) until soft stop (if you turn it in to hard it will break off), then from there 1 and a half full turns anti-clockwise .....
