Any guesses on the speech presentation this evening. Will his party applaud when he announces his intentions of escalation of the war in Iraq. I remember many times being told this is not another Viet Nam but here we go.

Re: State of Union

Okay... here is a twist

Bush will use the threat of Iran....
The build up of soldiers in Iraq will keep Iran in check....
We will end up "protecting" Iraq from Iran...

I do not see a solution and regardless of what the President does it is not a good situation.

Sadly, I do not see a clear answer or at least one people will agree with. I would not be surprised to see a series of nuclear incidents in Iran (Chernobyl accidents) from sloppy handling of radioactive material.

Bob, that isn't much of a twist. In reality, we are protecting Iran from Saudi Arabia. :p

Hey Bob, "Twist" or your spin? Iran has been a problem that dominates our moves since 1979 when Jimmy Carter cut the Shaw off at the knees. Good pre speach spin Bob. JR

I predict he will announce a breakthrough in fusion energy that will provide cheap, limitless supplies of energy to power the new Hydrogen economy.

The democrats will immediately condemn him for attempting to destroy the oil, gas and coal industries in America to help his rich power plant industry buddies at the expense of poor, hard working oil, gas and coal union members.

What? Me cynical?

Just in the opening notes, Hillary and her party did not applaud or approve of a balanced budget and when Bush said he wanted to increase business and not big government, the Dems did not applaud. Guess those are 2 no-no's for the left. Sometimes I just don't get it or understand ...

The President says, we can have victory in Iraq, the right stands and claps and left sit on their hands like school children. Sickening that they don't think we can win.

And lil nancy chewing her cud......

Us libs can't be seen supporting this president, no matter how much sense he makes.

If we were to actually win(god forbid) the war in Iraq.... well, it would just shoot the Shist out of our whole platform for the last 2 years! Can't be having any of that!!!

Very moving words, but as long as we have the press on our side, we can still lose this war.

Re: State of Union

This has been around awhile but maybe some of you have not seen it before....if it offends you too much just save it until some else is in power and repost it then....

My friends, I am writing to warn you of a very dangerous game that many of you or your loved ones may intend to play this Tuesday. This is a very serious matter; many people could die because they simply aren't aware how much the situation has changed. I am speaking, of course, of the State of the Union drinking game. While this is a favorite pastime in America it has never been completely safe to drink whenever you catch a politician lying. This year, however, there are expected to be an unprecedented number of lies, fabrications, omissions of truth, revisions of history, misuses of statistics, and the complete denial of the world situation. Players who typically drink after each lie need to be aware that alcohol poisoning can lead to death at over .4% blood alcohol content. (For comparison, the legal limit to drive is .08% in some states) This Tuesday's State of the Union will address, among other things, the Iraq war and global warming. Even conservative estimates predict that unseasoned drinkers could be killed within the first hour of the State of the Union address. As you can see, matters are grave within the State of the Union. I urge you to join with me in encouraging at least a ten lies to one drink revision in the drinking game. Don't let your death be added to those the current administration is already responsible for.
