Stator 9 or16amp

1995 120hp Force on 18ft bayliner with 1 battery and limited electronics.

Replacing O.E. 9amp (black) stator p/n 398-8778A24 and voltage regulator p/n 815279-4.
Planning to replace with CDI 9amp stator 174-8778K1 and CDI voltage regulator 194-5279.

No history with 9, why go to 16amps?

More charging capacity and higher output to drive more electronics. Say for instance, charging two batteries or drive more electronics such as a stereo, GPS fish/depth finder, lighting etc.
