Stator replacement ?

I Have a 1986 force 125 hp. outboard I would like to know how to remove the flywheel with the tools of a backyard mechanic..i have all the tools needed just laking the know how.any help greatly appreciated. thanks BVC.

Most outboard flywheels can be pulled with an automotive harmonic balance puller. You'll have to check yours to see if it will work.

Thanks for the info UU but i have the Manual and it does not specify the how to section on physicly removing the flywheel from the crank,

OK. The suggested puller is a must. As the flywheel most certainly won't come of by hand, trying to rmove it without a puller ain't smart.<br /><br />The puller uses the crank end to push against while pulling the flywheel. So remove the big nut & washers and attach the puller. Make a mark of the exact fit (crank and flywheel). Turn the puller bolt to pull the flywheel off. This can be a matter of applying a lot of power so use good tools.<br /><br /> See Merc's version here
