stator test

have saw advise to not disconnect stator . however other advise to disconnect stator and take voltage readings. would this damage the stator:confused:

Not Voltage- OHM readings -checking for continuity & open wiring in stator. if its not charging?? replace the voltage regulator on side of engine. thats what usually goes bad!! Heres one everybody forgets !! always when charging any battery -#1 - make sure key is off & REMOVED!! and always = disconnect the battery!! At least the negative term.!!

There are thousands of Johnson/Evinrude outboards models. What in blue blazes are you working on? It is impossible to give correct advice without that little piece if info.

Boat Doctor1 , please forgive me . im not even smart enough to ask a question right. i said stator but was thinking charge coil, i guess where you check dva to to power pack. not to good with terminolgy. anyway thank you very much for your quick responce and i also didnt know to disconnect battery,whencharging or to take the ignition key completely out. im learning so thank youagain:joyous:
