Apparently our President was for "Stay the Course" before he was against "Stay The Course"!

Next no doubt he'll blame the generals for starting this stupid war.

I guess we are "cutting and running" from stupid slogans for this war.

Does this administration really think that Iraq is simply a PR problem, as opposed to a fundamental tactic and strategery problem?

Yessiree!
Now its a "Study In Constant Motion"
Talk about a bunch of sh-, uh, spin....
This is just more affirmation that this administration has screwed the pooch & painted itself into the corner.....

In other news, I am currently working on the expansion of the Veteran's hospital, due to the increase in customers.....
It is a sobering experience, to say the least.....
I would like to thank Dubya for the business.....
Who says Haliburton makes all the money?......JK

Re: Stay the Course

come on folks, dontchya know elections are only 2 weeks away?
ya gotta change slogans, especially when policy aint working.
and remeber its the liberal lefts fault Bush had to invade and sell the US on a regime change with 300,000 less troops that actually needed.

however I am concentrating on all the positives our current govt has done with Border security, port security, veterans administration issues, social security solvency issues, medicaid and indigant medical care as well as trade agreements that help the people that need it most.
just stick with the positives.

so as elections approach just think of the positives our elected officials have accomplished.

at 165,000 a year the poor congress is just overworked and under paid. I think we should give them additional time off.
so vote for them to have some extra time off.

Re: Stay the Course

Mr. Bush, in a CNBC interview, said, "Well, I've been talking about a change in tactics ever since I — ever since we went in.."

Huh??

"Bush, in discussing at a news conference on Oct. 11 the meaning of the phrase "stay the course," refused to be pinned down. "Stay the course means keep doing what you're doing," he said. "My attitude is, don't do what you're doing if it's not working; change."

Huh?? Huhh??

What an enigma!!

Sadly, with October on track to be the deadliest month in two years in Iraq, there seems to be no change in sight in policy with only the hope of this Baker/Hamilton commission to lend some sanity to this mess, no, I am not having fun with this.

I take absolutely no joy in this predicament in Iraq. Even the inevitable "I told you so" rings hollow. There is too much at stake, and there are real enemies out there we face that so far we have basically ignored.

Re: Stay the Course

My "enjoying yourselves" comment had nothing to do with Iraq, only the list of posters to your thread. With that said, as we all like to divert by asking questions, I have tried this a couple of times with no answer. If you had an Iraq wish, would you put Saddam Hussein back in power? He kept the sectarian violence down. It seems that is your biggest concern. Or is it US lives? Or is it US Imperialist ambitions? What in a nut shell is your biotch with Iraq? How we wage it, or if we wage it? If it is if, then you should get over it, because as I often like to say "there ain't no stinkin' rewind button".

If it is how we wage it, well OK, it would be nice if they were not trying to kill eachother and our troops too. The fact is we are there and we are a police force until it is safe enough to give control 100% to the Iraqis. Maybe you think we should just leave and let them kill each other and let them merge with Iran? I am not sure how letting them kill each other is a whole lot different than dropping a nuke on them, we know it will be complete murder, mahem etc., which all of us with a morsel of sanity agree is bad . . . ;)

Re: Stay the Course

Yeah, but they will be the ones responsible for the killing.....
We would just be "enablers" ;).d:)
With regards to Saddam, you can't put the genie back in the bottle in this case, nor would you want to......
& if that were done then the present admin. will have done less than zero, if that is possible.....JK

Custom,

What exactly is the plan you prescribe? Are you simply a follower?

I get it, you have no real plan, and have chosen to follow blindly.

My plan, get somebody in the Whitehouse worthy of being followed!

Of course, I would not have gone in in the first place, so I'd have to say that I did not consider Saddam a particular threat.
Would I dust him off, say we're sorry, and return him to power? Of course not.

And no, I don't have a simple answer to this. Malaki and his bunch are already aligning themselves with Iran, and he even forced us to let one of captured Sadr Militia death squad leaders loose.

We *have* to find a political solution to this, get our soldiers off the role as target, and get the regional players involved politically somehow. That includes Iran, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi, Turkey, snd others.

It won't be easy to do. The pending result is an all out regional power struggle and war, or Sadr taking over Iraq, which may be worse.

We are not in a position to fix this on our own, and if we have to withdraw to get others involved, that is what we need to do.

And that person would be a Democrat?.... so then your plan would be to cut and run.

Re: Stay the Course

I did not say that, you have assumed it. I am not a democrat nor a republican, and I have said that many, many times.

Reread my plan, it definately says "someone," and there is no mention of parties, as both sides have idiots not worthy of my vote or the office. W and his supporters in DC, in my opinion, are in need of being replaced. They have no plan, but have people like you believing otherwise.
