Re: steerin bushing

Alek, First of all, Welcome Aboard! As far as what steering system you have, nobody here has a working crystal ball, something happened and all of them crashed at the same time. Take and post a picture from under the helm and someone will be able to identify it.
I know how difficult it can be sometimes when you don't get the answer you're wanting, but the proper protocol here is not to sound or look like a smart alek while waiting for the answer. The guys here are way under paid for their expert advice. If you sound ungrateful, you won't get the time of day. It is easy to fire back an answer that isn't meant to sound ungrateful, but is perceived as such.
As far as the advice you were given by the previous owner, you were given bad advice, as the steering unit isn't serviceable, if that is where the steering slop really is. The first step is identifying where the slop originates. Have someone hold the outdrive and you turn the wheel. Is the steering wheel turning more than a half turn without the outdrive moving?
Give the pro's a little more info and you'll get the answers needed to start the repair correctly. Hope this helps.

Re: steerin bushing

i apologize to everyone i guess i thought it would be as easy as looking for a part number on the side of the shaft or something. i didn't know u guys were talking about looking under the dash and seeing what it is.

i haven't had a chance to look at it yet been replacing motor gimbal bearing and bellows.

when i did turn it today though with out motor running. (power steering) it turned to the left really easy and to the right nothing the wheel just spun really freely.

any thoughts at the end of this week i will get under the dash and look around.
