how do i decide wat kind of steering i have on a 1983 90hp evinrude the steering wheel just spins. motor turns when u puch on it but steering wheel does not?// thanks

Has it got a stright rack or a rotary hub attached to the backside of the steering wheel?

looks like a rotary hub. are they easy to replace the wheel just spins. but got boat back by pushing on motor to steer.

Usually not hard to replace. Google tele-flex steering systems, they should have replacement parts. If the system is really old, you may have to replace the complete system.

ya its a 1983 so i need to messure the old one. how does it attach to motor. i see complete kits ar ******** for 180 is that about right?

At most places you can get the whole system for around $180-$200. All you have to know is the length of the steering cable. Check here on I-Boats.

when i install a new kit is there any adjusting or just bolt on and go?

Depending on the kit, should be pretty much bolt on and go.
