Steering issue left turns only

I don't need a rack . So I measure the helm piece is 2 feet then there is a 8 foot run to the back then 4 feet to rack . I guess 14 would be it.

You have to start using correct terminology. The rack is attached to the cable and is driven by the pinion on the steering wheel shaft. Collectively it's called a rack and pinion helm.

There is no rack behind the motor. The thing you added pictures of several times is not a rack, it's called a valve assembly;

Since you can force the rack with a screwdriver, the helm is broken. You need a complete rack and pinion helm kit, which includes the cable. A kit similar to this;

Thank you GA_Boater I followed the link and found a kit 143.0 PERFECT

The rack is the problem I removed it from the helm and with a screwdriver towards the end of a right turn it wont move more Loss of 8 teeth The helm teeth are all good.. I Need to find a Morse command 200 cable and rack. TELEFLEX MORSE COMMAND 200 E300619 the replacement is SSC13014 ,,,

Problem solved 116.00 free shipping BoatID negotiated a better price I took apart the old cable , corroded and rusty easy removal and install 45 min. Ulflex USA M86X14 - M86 series 14" Rack and Pinion steering Cable
