Can't move the motor or steering wheel at all tied to move the motor around and that didn't loosen anything. Any ideas do u think it could be the steering cable. My boat is a 1989 bayliner w/120hp omc.

Re: steering????

Do what steelspike says and I think you will find that the steering cable is frozen in the steering tube. If so, lubricate any grease points, spray some penetrating oil on the place where it comes out of the steering tube and tap gently on the end of the cable with a piece of wood covering the end and it may come loose. My guess is that its been sitting awhile.

Re: steering????

Hey Guys,<br />I tried unhooking the cable it came out most of the way, not enough room to pull out all the way. When I disconnected the cable I was able to move the steering wheel, and while moving the steering wheel the cable was moving left to right.I tried mannually moving the motor with no luck, still stuck to the left. I just bought this boat the end of last season I did winterize it including lubing the 2 fittings in the steering. It seems like the steering is locked like on a car before u turn the key.

Re: steering????

Disconnect the steering link arm that attaches from the motor to the steering shaft rod. You should then be able to move the motor without interference from the steering linkage. Let us know if it moves.
