I dont know about the rest of you, but I am real hard on those slidey post stern lights. I break them all the time. either the lens the bulb or the pole itself. Most of the time its the lens cap thingy. So I started thinking, and decided to weld up a little cage and it would look like a normal miniature inverted ship's light, ya know? thought that would be pretty cool, and better yet, harder for me to break! :D problem is, I am fresh out of lights to do this too! and I figure if Im gonna go through the trouble, then I want one that would look good on my 1958 blue star. But I cannot find a glass one, or even half decorative plastic, just crappy white square plastic. any ideas where to get a vintage light?
thanks
Craig

Re: Stern Lights...

I feel for ya, Craig... I busted my stern light junky plastic lens last night...

I have seen a light that has the retro looks you're after and a "fresnel?"(whatever that is) lens with a real metal lens base and top at west marine, but it is not cheap.. ($70.00)

I'll keep an eye out, cause I'm in the market for a new one too.. :(

Perko makes a pretty decent looking clear glass light. If you can't find it at iboats, try BOAT/US.
