After coming in to the marina, then the campground, after fishing all day i noticed i had no coal,i had hamburger meat raw but no way to cook it,It was super late and all the fellow campground people were sleeping,so i began to walk around and then i saw a big bag of coal,it was near a trailer so i snuck up and grabbed some and put in a few dollars afterwards.I felt bad but the burgers were great i hope the campers didnt freak when they emptied the bag to see a few dollars inside.I know it was wrong but i needed food!bag was still full over half when i left.It was a big bag.Anyone else been here with me?

If it was mine I wouldn't care if you took some.

More than likely if he was awake he would of gave you some for free.:)

I always use wood to cook over, so when I reach a point I know I need more ahead of time. Right or wrong over and done with

I hope they didn't dump the cash onto an already-lit grill :p

I can see it now. The guy gets a hospital bill for thousands for a couple of bucks he dumped on his grill :D

Re: stole charcoal for bbq one night!i was wrong but im not right!

Went hunting in a popup camper on Thanksgiving weekend with my Dad when I was about 16. Couldn't see another camper around us. Snow on the ground and pretty cold. We were relying on a small bbq and a bag of chicken parts for a meal at the end of each day. Last night there I accidentally knocked over the bbq in the snow with the last of our coals and chicken. My father was NOT the shy or quiet type and kinda layed into me for being irresponsible with words that made sailors blush. He cooled down and sent me out for some wood so we could cook the partially cooked legs and thighs that survived the screwup.

I got bundled and started out. I didn't get 50 yds when this figure comes strolling across the field ahead of me carrying something. He strolled up to me with a hibachi grill full of coals and some turkey and potatoes wrapped in foil. He said tell your pop Happy Thanksgiving and just leave the grill, I'll grab it tomorrow. I am not sure where he lived, but apparently within earshot of my Dad's echoing tirade. When I got back and relayed the message, my Pop laughed and claimed it was my guardian angel.

Re: stole charcoal for bbq one night!i was wrong but im not right!

I've never hawked someones charcoal, but I have gone from empty campsite to empty campsite looking for 1/2 burned wood.

I bet most don't understand there is almost NO wood out here and if you don't bring it, you are out of luck. Well, wood was the one thing we forgot and I had to go scavenging. A couple empty sites actually had a couple big chunks of unburned wood (WOO HOO!) but most had a couple big charred logs. A quick walk through of the camp site yielded us enough fire fuel for the weekend.

I guess that was payback for when I left a huge stack of wood at another campsite....

With the way the dollar is depreciating these days he probably still got the short end of the stick if he didn't catch it until the next camping trip.
