It was just a joke!...but seriously, probably not good to "borrow" stuff late at night...might get shot!....

I should have known you were kidding, I travel into Greenville often and never lock my car!

Rather than scrounge through someone else's campsite for charcoal, I think I would have cooked the hamburgers on the stove that night or found another method to cook them. Even asked someone who may have already had a firing going if you could have some of his hot coals.

I don't like people at our campsite without our knowledge period. It's an invasion whether you leave money or not.

Good point, I know I'd be pizzed if I found someone had been rummaging through our stuff.

Also, what if they were planning to use the whole bag of charcoal during their camping trip, but now only have a partial bag.....

WE camp a LOT something always gets forgotten. may be me or someone else.

as long as you are not some JERK causing trouble you are welcome to most anything in my camp except my wife. just ask or even tell me hey I borrowed so and so..

If you camp enough it will come back to you. pay it forward.

When we camp it is usually at a rocket launch, I am the same way with my rocket stuff. if you need something to get you flying.. ask if I dont have it I'll find someone that does. if I do have it it's yours.

I have NOT camped with a bunch of boaters yet. but I hope it is the same..

this guy knows the lake and the strange things that happen that are for the good if looked at right!

Some people are blessed! they never run out of gas, break down and always have it all.For the rest of us which is a big number we do what ever it takes to survive without hurting others and we will be the first to jump into the water to save you when everyone else is thinking about what they might lose!As our body might float up 2 weeks later with no regreats.

was the bait next to the charcoal at home ???

some guy with a bayliner and a force mtr was suppose to bring them and reach me on the lake!said he stalled just passed the tires! LOL LOL

You wouldn"t have gotten shot..But you would have gotten an arse beating for sure..What ticks me is your "But I was so hungry, I had to steal" attitude.
This entitilementistic attitude really bothers me. Yes you gave the guy a couple dollars, but the fact is YOU went out camping totally unprepared, I mean really..What kinda fool brings hamburger and no charcoal?

Also, you would be "long gone fishing????" ummm no, you would be cooking your rancid, botulism laced hamburger meat because if you cant be smart enough to bring coals, I doubt you were smart enough to have ice.

Couldn't agree more. I would "never" think about going into someone elses camp if no one was present. And I sure as heck wouldn't sneak in while they're sleeping and take something that wasn't mine.

I also agree with most of what CheapboatKev said too.

Me and my daughter just got back from camping. Campers can be some of the most generous people out there. If you're in need, most will give the shirt off their back. When we left, we gave our neighbors, who just arrived, our leftover wood. Was a couple with 2 small children. We also gave our crawlers to a couple we got to know who were also big into fishing. He even told me the hotspots earlier in the week.

I guess I would have skipped the hamburger that night and ate whatever I didn't have to cook. Even if I went a little hungry for a night.
