Hi everyone. I have a 14' aluminum boat with a 10 hp motor. Probably weighs about 250lbs. While I was at the lake the other day, someone stole my keel roller, bracket and all. The trailer has 2 bunks in the back and the keel roller is about 2/3 up from the back of the boat. Do you think I should replace it with a rubber or plastic roller, or should I just put two small bunks up front and forget about the roller?

IMO, put back what was there. With bunks, you can't push the boat off in a shallow launch like you probably can with that keel roller in place.

I would put 1 4x4" bunk, cross ways, where the roller was.
Usually a roller placed up front like that, doesn't really do much except support the boat a little after it is loaded.

Its cheap, easy, effective, and no one is going to steal it.

This is a 14' aluminum boat, so you really shouldn't need the roller to launch or load.

i think you should find the low life that stole your roller and after you beat them with it then replace it..

That's basically what happened when they found some local kids going through the parking lot flipping up all the hitch couplers that didn't have locks on them. They thought it was funny as hell till some folks confronted them.
