Yamaha 130TXRZ. I just rebuilt the carbs and at the advice of this forum put on a new fuel pump. It will now idle but I hear a strange knocking like noise coming from the flywheel area. It seams to make the noise just turning it by hand. Is there something under there that normally loosens up?

Re: Strange noise from flywheel

hello,

it could be a loose screw got in there! :eek: hope not!

does it remain with rpms, or go away?

also, try to pull plugs, turn ignition off, and crank it over. see if the sound is there and if it is mechanical? that is what i would do next, if it were mine... :)

let us know

regards,

Well I noticed that the mag control arm will not go all the way back to it's rest/ idle position unless you push it, is there a way to increase the tension? The noise at the flywheel seams less at higher rpm's. I can move the flywheel back and forth by hand about an 1/8 of an inch and there is a metalic noise.
Any ideas?

Hi.
I would pull the flywheel.
It sounds like one of the coils on the stator might have moved.
Jim.
