Hi all,
Friday night after picking my boat up at the marina (new cover and Bimini, but that's another story), I relaunched my boat at what we loosely refer to as our "boat launch", and wasn't even off the trailer when I found one of the 6000 rocks that litter the area. I was in reverse but barely moving. I must have just caught it but I did take a small (1/4-1/2 inch) chip out of one blade and just bent the other 2. I brought the boat back to the cottage dock without incident and it seemed fine I had been thinking about re-pitching anyways from the 14 1/4 x 21 prop that came one the boat. I bought a solas rubex 14 3/10 x 19 and intstalled it on the boat and water tested it. It seemed to work great except for a weird whirling/whining sound at exactly 1000 rpm and around 4600 rpm. No vibrations or anything like that. WOT is now 5000 rpm so I know I need to keep an eye on engine speed. I called the guy who sold me the prop and he seemed to think the prop was just "singing", and I didn't need to worry. I've been doing some reading and apparently it's not uncommon in re-pitched props. Anyone have any experiance with this?
Thx!!!
