Sorry if this is a really dumb question

My Yam F40 4 stroke is almost new with 17 hours recorded. After my last trip I noticed a small ding on one of the prop blades. Right on the leading edge. I looked again today and I see a ding about the same size, right beside the last one. The rest of the prop blades are unmarked.

I know its probably coincidence but I've never had a mark on any of my props let alone 2 dings on consecutive trips right beside each other.

I'm never in really shallow water and my boat is kept in a marina. The position of the damage means that it could not have been another boat hitting it when parked.

Have I hit a similar sized bit of debris ,on the same area of my prop, the last 2 times I've been out?

There isn't anything else that would do this maybe?

Re: Strange prop damage.

I would be thinking about hitting floating debris such as beer bottles or something else. You might not even see it if the water is choppy.

Re: Strange prop damage.

props can be defective and have hidden stress points we don't see until it's too late. but in your case, i think it's just a coincidence.
