Strange Question - VP 5.7 GSi S/N

My boat was repowered in 2007 due to a bad winterizing job, 2 years before I bought it. I've been all over the motor and cannot find the serial number anywhere. The tag on top of the engine has nothing in that space, and I simply can't find it anywhere else. I know where it's supposed to be, but it either isn't there or my old eyes can't see it.

By process of eliminarion, I've determined that my engine model is:

5.7GSi PWTRCE (1998-99)

It matches the year the boat was built (1999), and the only other possibility (BY instead of WT) that was made in 1997-98, uses a 3-drive-belt system instead of the 2-belt system I have.

I'm concerned that at some point I'll have to come up with a representative serial number for something I need.

Does abyone else here have that same model of engine, and can I "borrow" your serial number for my records?

If you have the serial number on the transom shield, or the outdrive, post it. If it was registered correctly I can tell what engine was registered with it originally.

Well, the engine serial number for your original engine is 4110186014 which as you already found out is model number 5.7GSI PWTRCE the spec number is 3868947.

If you look up in the Volvo information in the Adults Only sticky, you will find the OEM service manuals for your WT model.
