Musky - I just looked at the mish-mash that are the titling regs for WI. It seems to me the Street Rod plates on the '34 are the only numbers issued. No state issued VIN from what I can tell. You might have some questions when you transfer the title.

Thanks for the info. I see Mn must issue a vin. The vin on the title doesn't match the plates. I probably should register it one of these days. Still finding insurance. Looks like it may be higher than my GTO. I wonder if it's because it's glass....... I need to call Grundy and cancel my GTO anyway.... I kept it active for a while "just incase"...

Re: Street Rodders, Need Advice.....

Yesterday I talked to my insurance agent who insures our DDs to get me a quote. I guess she ended up calling Hagerty. They were very spendy. Called Grundy who I've been with for 10 years with no claims and they were $250 cheaper. No need for pix either. So it was a done deal over the phone. Not sure if something was missed in translation with Hagerty.........

Haggerty does specifically hot rods and classic cars so their appraisals of value are better and you don't end up getting screwed in the long run if something happens. Had them when I had my Z28 and loved them, totally worth the extra money IMO

I believe Grundy is just old cars too. They asked me how much I wanted it insured for, I gave them a number and that was that..... Going to register it tomorrow. Hopefully no issues with the title from the previous owner.

Fingers crossed for the regs. Never had them so I can't say but hope it works out for you.

Re: Street Rodders, Need Advice.....

I'm not too concerned. The guy seemed to be on the up and up. The guy bought it from an auction because the previous owner lost his business which included the car. He painted it and drove it...... The worst thing about it, is I can't use my collector plates from my GTO. In WI you can transfer plates from car to car. I have to get the hobbyist plates since the car is a replica. They are Packer colors....:facepalm:

Heading to a local car show tomorrow. It's been a while since we went with the GTO. New car = renewed interest.. At least for a while... Haven't looked anymore for the vin. Doesn't appear to be anywhere on the body. WI issued the same vin that was registered with Mn...

OP stated in post 49 that the PO bought it at an auction and seemed to be on up and up, plus auctions generally do there homework just for a CYA situation. They may have found something that indicated same car, but still no guarantees.

I'm not 100% sure as of yet until I find the vin. I'm still about 95%. Reason being, there is a guy who works at a dealership who is known as the streetrod guru of N Mn. He's known this car since the begining of the build. Turns out his buddy is the guy I bought it from. The "guru" told me the history of the car. I'm not worried. May have to call him and ask about the vin.... If this was a GTO, then yes, I would need to see a vin and it better start with 242.... :)

Just spent a few hours cleaning it since it hasn't been touched since I test drove it in the rain and got it all mucked up. What difference it made with a little soap and water and blackened tires.......... Now a guy hates to drive it...lol Still need to polish the billet pulleys, air cleaner, chrome brackets and valve covers. That can wait for another day.......

When you detail for a show, you can use a mix of baby shampoo and water as a quick detailer spray and for cleaning window, when you see the judges coming just buff with a soft dry cloth real quick. Fingerprints and any missed smudges will buff right out. I used to use it all the time on my show cars and to install window tint.
