Stuck in forward gear

Hi all, Boating season is here and took the boat out yesterday had a blast we went around the lake a few times then we stop for a few took a nap and drifted alittle close to shore so i started the motor up and backed up and hit a rock or something i heard a thump then i put it in neutrel til we got into deeper water , i then put the motor into forward and we went on our way around then lake a few more times when it as time to return to then docks i noticed i could not put the shifter into neutrel nor reverse but i had full forward range motion, i was able to load the boat take her home and check the cable i unhooked the shiftrod from the shift plate the cable moved easy but not the shift plate , So after a little research i am thinking it has something to do with a cone gear should i be seeing big dollar signs here?

Can anyone confirm that i am on the right track thinking its the cone gear and that it might be an easy fix?

You can't work on the cone gear.And yup the drive is expensive.
Did you see any damage to the prop or the drive itself?? J

well the SS Prop has a few small dings in it . I called the Dealer where i bought the boat he is saying there are 2 cables that go to the control box and one of them might be bad , now i took the cover off the upper part of the drive and disconnected the throttle shift cable then went in the boat and i was able to move the shifter back and forth ( full motion ) i guess only thing i can do now is have it checked out i just thought that there were shear pins that help reduce damage again i am new to boating learning does not come cheap lol
