Stuck in the yard

I went to hook up my boat last night and wouldn't you know it--I got stuck in the yard. Where I have to park my boat is on a slope and has lots of pea gravel (under the very thin layer of topsoil)--the idiots that owned the property before me dug a huge water pit and just used gravel to level the feakin yard--anyway--I got up this morning and was going to unstick the Explorer--and to my amazement I didn't have to ask my neighbor--I got it turned enough to get out of the old ruts. So I then proceeded to hook the boat up to my 4 wheeler to pull it further up in the yard so I could hook the Explorer up to it. Had the wheeler in 4wd and wouldn't you know it---dug another set of 2ft holes(I have some filling in to do). After about an hour of messing with the car, wheeler, and boat I finally got everything unstuck, hooked up, loaded, and was off to the lake. Had a good day of fishing. Got home about 4 backed the boat in the yard (a different spot) and almost got stuck again. Due to the yard getting a bit wet and not drying as good this time of year--I may be done until next year:mad:

Re: Stuck in the yard

I've been stuck in the yard also! Years ago I repaced the motor in my lifted, 84 Toyota 4x4 in the yard, no driveway. Afterwards I rolled the old 4 cyl engine onto a pallet to drag it to the shed to store it. I hooked it to the truck w a strap and procedded to tow it around the back of the shed to reach the door, Thats when I found the leach field that was saturated just under the surface. I had 33-15.50 SuperSwamper SX mud tires on it and had never been stuck before w these tires! The ground collapsed and the truck just sunk to the axles  I was'nt too upset, the new used engine ran like a top so I could'nt help but spin the mudslinging tires one time as long as I was there!!

I hear ya. I had a 1993 Bronco (this just wouldn't get stuck) I wish I still had it. I sold it about 10 years ago (so I could get married) It's just what I need to get around in my yard now--especially with a boat:D

DJ, it was'nt graywater stinky. The whole yard and neighborhood was flat and near the floodplain and didnt drain well w alot of rain, and it was very wet from 3 hurricanes or tropical storms in about a month. Most of the yard was hard, but water would stand in spots for days and the ground was still hard under the shallow pools. I found a sinkhole evedently that swallowed those fat tires. I found it ironic I was stuck in the yard, where I mowed the grass, considering the nasty, deep, mudholes i'd been through w this truck! I did sling some mud on the blown motor though, and had to clean it off before storing it:facepalm: and my bud laughed hysterically when he came over to pull me out and saw the truck buried in the back yard, and took pics to show other friends!
