Re: Stumped!!

I know its not what you want to hear but from my experience it sounds like the carb still. It will run and idle fine with the muffs on, but when you place it under load in the water it will bog down.

I use an acid to clean the carbs with and I also have a cleaning key, looks like an allen set but just stiff wires. I clean the passages up as best I can with brushes and the keys then I let soak in acid for 15-20 minutes and repeat the process again. They sell the carb acid at Advanced or the like and it runs @ $15 for the 1/2 gallon can.

Re: Stumped!!

Running out of gas. Weak fuel pump cannot keep up with the volume requirements at WOT, but can at idle.
Try pumping the primer bulb and take it up to WOT.
If it runs OK while pumping the bulb, weak fuel pump.

Re: Stumped!!

ive checked that it doesnt make a difference but what about this when it is running good the fuel in the carb is spraying more of a mist in the motor but when it starts to bog the fuel changes to what seems to be more fuel than normal and doesnt look like a mist but a lot thicker what could cause this that seems to be the problem

Re: Stumped!!

When you cleaned the carbs did you actually fully disassemble them?

Sounds like a clogged jet to me.

I can't tell you how many times I've cleaned carbs only to have dislodged a small particle that makes its way back in to my nice "clean" carb lol

If your timing is set right, and the above fuel pump test doesn't help, then I would go back to carbs

Also check the obvious and make sure advance linkage is hooked up (different motor and BTDT lol)

Re: Stumped!!

final adjustments are supposed to be made on the water, it sounds like timing is still slightly off, the fuel spray isn't being atomized at wot because the carb is losing its vacuum, hence the fuel spray looking like it does at wot.
I'd look at adjusting the advance at wot to tweak it.
Take another look at Joes directions.

Re: Stumped!!

are you saying that i should reset the timming all over again when you do a link and sync should you set the timming before or after you set the carb and throttle control arm

Re: Stumped!!

re-read Joe directions,
initial timing is set static,
but it also has to be set dynamically (on the water ) ,
the initial setting is just ballpark.
I think your carb is fine.
