hey guys, this is pretty stupid but,

is there a special bolt i need to attach my steering linkage to my outboard. I replaced an old pulley system with rotary, and when i bought the boat nothing was attached (can't find original equipment). Is there a steering arm of some sort or do i bolt the linkage directly to the motor. any bolts i try will not thread in! thanks

Re: stupid question about steering

just wanted to add, I do not have a tilt tube. I'm new to this so i have not been around a lot of boats before. Thanks for all of your help.

there is a triangular shaped tab underneath the outboard near the transom mount with two bolt holes. I'm sure i have to attach to this via linkage of some sort.

If i build a mount to hold the cable in place and somehow attach to motor, will i have problems if i tilt the motor?

anyone have ideas for a mount, or where to get one?

tashasdaddy, from another post of yours you said that you have an early seventies electric shift evinrude so hopefully you can help me.
