Re: Suggested...or Law?

Fishndvm, I just checked Carolina Skiffs page and your boat is only rated for 540 lbs. Since you are already at 510lbs without any gear loaded according to the wieghts you listed before, I would think this would have a major hit on the performance since you only have a 15 Hp and not the 20 Hp max it's rated for.

I LOVE this phrase: PLEASURE POLICE
That'll get things going here now! :D :D :D

Wallbangers rite, you're at the upper limit for weight with a 15 HP.

Have you checked your state concerning over powering? A Merc 25 HP 2 cycle would be jus perfect for that rig....

I have a J12 and a J14 with Mercury 2-Stroke 25hp motors on both (tiller control). It's the perfect motor for those hulls. The original capacity plates are completely wrong for both (15hp for the J12 and 20hp for the J14). I had a Merc 2-stroke 15 on the J12 and it was fine with one person, but when you passed 300 lbs payload it just wouldn't plane. The J14 had a Merc 2-stroke Jet 20 and had the same issue. A 25 is JUST right.

And on that note, this one will be read only in the library. Closed.
