Sun Deck Hinges

I am building a sun deck on my boat and installing sport seating. I need a hinge for the sundeck/engine hatch lid. What I am looking for is a full wrap around hinge with at least a 2 inch rise. It basically looks like an upside down T when mounted and the hinged part is at the top of the T... or bottom depending on your perspective. This will give the clearance necessary to clear the upholstered cushions when opening the deck.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I am looking for pretty much the same thing. I have looked everywhere on the net and can't seem to find any.

Is this something you will have to get made up at a fab shop?

Can you post a picture or mock up of what you are planning? I don't think you need to fab anything, but I could be wrong about that.

I think you may be looking for a "double wrap piano hinge".

Or a double wrap hinge?

I did a quick google search and found these pics. I didn't find any stainless in this quick search, but at least this may help you with the search term.

If this is what you are looking for.

The double wrap hinge is exactly what I am looking for, however I have been unable to find one tall enough to do the job. The plywood of the sun deck will be 3/4" and the foam and cushion on top of it will be roughly 1 1/2". I need a double wrap hinge that stans at least 2" tall in order to have the deck clear the mating surface when it is raised. Otherwise the deck will hit its adjacent mating surface.

I spent a long time looking for the same thing w/o success. Finally bought six inch galvanized strap hinges and bent them to fit. If you do this, you should heat treat the bends.

I'm also building a sundeck / bench seat to replace the original doghouse motor cover on my 81 Century Bowrider 3000, and I would like to look at some more pictures to determine exactly what hardware I need for completely concealed hinge mechanisms that will allow the cushion to clear the stern so that it will open without binding. I'm planning to go have a look at some (not so local) used boat sales lots so I can see what hardware they use. If anyone has some pictures of the hardware please post pics. Thanks.

If you can't find it, have a shop weld an extension on to one side to suit your needs.

Is this the type you're looking for? It has about a 2-3" offset.

I own an upholstery shop and this is what we use when doing sundeck lounger conversions from doghouse-styled inboards. Imagine the design closed and opening.
