Re: Sun Tracker Party Barge21

That's the most motor they offer for it, but that doesn't necessarily mean that's the most motor it will accept. It clearly stipulates there may be "engine options other than the ones shown for this boat". In any case, it's not enough motor for tubing. Also, riverbottom, note that the price doesn't appear to include the trailer, which is optioned for another $1900. By the time you added a trailer and upgraded to a ninety you'd probably be into them for close to 25 grand. You can buy a really nice slightly used complete package for that. Just something to think about.

I see on the spec page now it states 90hp max. OOPS LOL

I have a 98 21' Party Barge with a 50 ELPTO. Great boat, alot of features and functionality. With two on board and a full load of beverages we can get 22/23 mph WOT as shown on the GPS. Cruising at 3800 nets a 13/14 mph cruise speed and cruise all weekend fuel economy.

I had a 90 ELPTO on my 2006 18' Odyssey and I could pull a skier or tube with that no problem and it would run about 28/29 WOT. I'd go 90hp if the wallet allows if you tube or ski.

We have a 2006 21' with the 60HP Bigfoot. The max speed I have gotten is 20 (GPS) but that is with only 5100RPM WOT. (I need to work on that) I do pull a tube and first timers like it.
The biggest bummer about the 60 is that it takes a while to get somewhere if you are in a hurry and live on a large lake like we do.
Now the good news: This thing goes forever on a tank of gas. The first 3 or 4 times we went out we thought the gauge was broken. Filled it up and nope, the gauge is fine, it just sips gas.

I bought a used 2002 Tracker 21' Signature Series Party Barge with 75HP Mercury 2-Stroke. I got 22 MPH GPS need to under skin and clean the tubes. But man what a smooth ride. Plenty of room and love the fact that there is no wood on the boat!

I have a 2010 Suntracker 21' fishing barge that has a 90 four stroke. It tops out at 30 mph by GPS with just me and the wife. Put more people and it goes slower. I get around 19-22 mph pulling a tube thats with a 15 degree SS prop. That is not maxing out on the RPMS. It gets great gas mileage and I have had no trouble. Love it.

Yesterday we had our 2010 PB20 out. It's similar to the PB21, only 3" shorter and 435 pounds lighter. We had 5 adults onboard at 720 pounds + the cooler and other typical gear.

Into a slight breeze,, bimini up, calm water (not glass) I was at 24mph via GPS at 5200rpm. We have a 90hp Merc on it.

Not sure where you got this, but my 21' Signature maxes out at 90, which is what it has. Capacities may have decreased some time over the last ten years, but it seems unlikely.

Before you pull the trigger on a brand spankin' new one check the secondary market. Lots of good deals out there on gently/barely used toons.

I just checked the Suntracker website, 90HP is the max for the PB21. The PB 20 is rated up to a 115HP OB.

When we bought our pontoon last year there were no deals available on used boats in our area. People were trying to unload their toys for what they owed or paid for them, many were priced higher than new boats sitting in dealer lots. Some dealers were sitting on new inventory that was 2 and 3 years old. Ouch.

Right now the used RV and car markets are unbelievably tight. The local Toyota dealer was selling (or trying to sell) certified used Toyatas for a few hundred dollars less than new. 2.99% interest on used car loans. That's unreal, at least for me.

I have a 2008 21 ' sun tracker with a mercury 60hp EFI big foot . We love the toon and all the room over the 19' Ebbtide we had last year. This boat will run 18 mph WOT and the sweet spot is 15 mph at 4400 rpm's . It's not a speed demon but speed is not why you buy a pontoon . If I where to buy another pontoon I would buy the same boat again with no regets . I hope this helps .
