My suntracker fishin' barge 21 makes two beeps every four minutes. The boat runs fine and it doesn't matter if it is idle or moving. It still beeps every four minutes. Any ideas????

:welcome: to iboats

The question you have is an engine problem and not a Suntracker problem. What motor do you have? Is it an I/O, outboard, what year make model, got a serial number?

It's a Mercury 40 hp outboard motor. Any tips or tricks to get the alarm off will be appreciated. It just got back from the shop and seems to run fine. The guy at shop didn't know how to get the alarm off.

what year , got a serial number?

I really don't want this to be me pulling teeth, but we need to know exactly what you have. This is the reason for more questions. Is it oil injected or a 4 stroke?

Dblay, if the Mercury tech has no idea what is causing the four minute interval beeps, contact either another Mercury tech or the factory. If it were mine, I would be all over that engine until I found out what was causing that beep. Obviously it is beeping to alert you of something wrong. So I'd find somebody that could tell you what it is beeping for... And then either fix the problem, or have it programmed to stop beeping... One other option you could do. Buy the factory, model, year, HP specific shop manual and start reading... JMHO!

My knowledge on boats is very limited. I do think it is a 4 stroke motor. Does this help? I've tried to find the manual but cannot. Thank you for your patience in advance.

Also, boat/motor were bought new in 2008. The words on top read "Bigfoot" and "ultra low emission." Hope this helps.

4 stroke 2008 helps a lot.
Haven't found 2 beeps every 4 minutes but have found 4 beeps every 2 minutes for a four stroke. They are either one of two

Low battery - Battery charging unable to keep up with demand. Raise engine speed, to increase charge, or shut down accessories, to reduce demand.
Water in Fuel - Water in water separating fuel filter. Needs to be removed/changed

Now if this is actually a oil injected 2 stroke then there could be 2 beeps every 4 minutes

It would be oil is low in the reservoir tank or it's sensor

Thank you! Is there a "how to" video on how to replace oil sensor for someone clueless on motors? Or just deactivate sensor altogether?

Repair or replacing the components is easy enough, but as before we need to know exactly what motor you have. See pic below for serial number location.

You don't really want to deactivate a sensor, we need to figure out if that is the issue and how to fix it. I'm going to send a message to the moderator to have this thread moved to the outboard section to get you some more help

Thanks for the diagram. That was going to be my next question...where to find the serial number. I found a document that reads It is a 2007 model. Engine Serial number 1C021707. Does that give you enough to go on? If not, I will see if I can get closer to the motor to get everything.

Appears you have a oil injected 2 stroke engine. Item 13 is your sensor 87-12886A6

And here is the link to other parts for your engine

Verify you have oil in the tank above and the wires are connected
