The super bowl has become an event as much as a football game. The football game provided everything that it hasn't on frequent occasions. A close, well played, exciting game from wire to wire. As a game it was excellent.

As an event it was possibly the worst, most terribly executed display of trash I have ever seen. It missed the mark on almost every level. Aerosmith should stick to studio work as they just don't have what it takes to pull off a live, worldwide broadcast. Steven Tylers voice was tired and their music wasn't performed well or with any style. It wasn't even current for the most part.

Josh and Boyonce were the highlight. They both showed style, and talent. Boyonce looked beautiful, classy, and dignified as she was escorted to the stage. Her outfit was current, subdued, and elegant. She did herself proud with an excellent National Anthem. She did it with bright eyes, personal flair and an appropriate diposition lost on almost every other act. Great Job!! :)

Halftime: WHAT WAS THAT. I really hope Nelly found what he spent his whole time on stage feeling around for in his pants. P Diddy, what did he say, sing, add, or do for the halftime show.

Kid Rock, I sure hope it wasn't his idea to hack up a flag into a tunic and parade around on stage with it. I don't know if it is a crime, but I found it offensive. You are there to enhance the glory the flag represents, not use its glory of the flag to enhance yourself.

Janet Jackson, what can I say. A dated song and dance sequence revolving around sex. Janet performed something that wasn't current 5 years ago and did it poorly. She had her bucket covered at all times due to it's abnormal size, dry humping a kid half her age, and exposing herself due to a a "costume malfunction" is unforgiveable, inappropriate and possibly an intensional insult to the viewing public. I have seen better productions at gentlemans clubs.

CBS, NFL, MTV, all have egg on their face and tarnished their images as concerned corportate citizens. They all had to approve of the performance prior to the game, and now when everyone thinks it was terrible are quick to blame each other. I have no idea who the NFL thinks is their target market is, but if that is what reaches them, so long football. :( That chunk of sewage that passed for halftime entertainment should be a wakeup call to the NFL.. Know who you are working with, who you are trying to reach, what are your upsides and downsides, and paybacks for risks. Attempting to reach the street thugs and pornographic segements of your audience should not be attempted during your premier game. The idea that hiring MTV to be the production company for your halftime show had to be called into question. Hard hitting programs like cribs, real world, road rules, and TRL hardly would make them credible as the point people for developing a halftime show for the largest and possibly the most diverse tv audience of the year. All of these organizations owe the viewers an apology....

The commercials were terrible. A monkey trying to pick up in graphic detail a woman, and a dog biting a man in the crotch. Nothing there either.

It is a good thing that the game was worth watching cuz the rest was a disaster.

The Half Time show may have been a disgrace but NFL legends were born last night.

Tom Brady: 26 years old, 2 Super Bowl wins, youngest ever to win 2, 2 MVPs, 15 straight games. Amazing.

Adam Vinatieri: 2 Super Bowl winning kicks in the last seconds of the game.

Bill Belichick: 2 Super Bowl wins as Head Coach (1 less than leader Gibbs). Only coach other than Shula to win 15 in a row

Rodney Harrison playing a good chunk of the 4th quarter with a unprotected broken arm

Jake Delhomme - longest pass play in Super Bowl History and coutless other clutch deep balls. This kid was undrafted & rode the bench in NFL Europe!

John Fox: From 1 & 15 last year to the Super Bowl this year

Re: Super disaster....

CBS and the NFL has already said that MTV will never be allowed to participate again. They said that stuff wasn't done in all the rehearsals. Anyway, they all did themselves a good deal of harm so it backfired badly.

Really, I don't consider myself naive by any stretch, but there is a time and a place for everything. If I want pornography, I know where to get it. And I know that I really don't want to watch it with my adolescent children while tuning into a major sporting event. I'm big-time into the concept of sportsmanship. That half-time show was what, exactly? Was it entertainment?

What an embarrassment. The regular season advertising on Sunday afternoon is bad enough... Coor's and others with plasticized women's breasts hanging out the sides of bikinis... Again, if I want that, I'll go to the right venue to do so. What is that teaching my daughter? I know, that's my job, but it doesn't make it any easier when Paris Hilton has her butt and chest exposed like a $20 ***** during a mid-Sunday afternoon advertisement during the game. She may not be a role model, but she perpetuates the myth that this is what American women should look like. Perhaps so if your a young man with $20 on shore leave, but I think we all want our own daughters to marry a respectable guy, become nurturing mothers and raise another generation of good citizens. It's not about being prudish; it's about being appropriate, especially in a family atmosphere. And just because smut and *****s are plastered all over America doesn't mean we can't steer it back into its proper place. Enough already.

Janet Jackson's "accident" hit prime news bulletins in New Zealand last night. Looks to me as if it was intended to happen that way. One way to ensure free publicity in the world headlines.
She's not even very good at singing either.
Not sure about NFL though. Can't follow it at all.

Good luck all ;)

Hey Ralph, don't forget about our local boys Deion Branch and Ted Washington, who both happen to be University of Louisville products. ;)

Yea...Pointer said it all.

Why can't they just leave it as a football game? Sure it's once a year deal...but you don't see this kind of stuff at the world series.

Every SuperBowl tries to out do the last one....well....this one succeeded and will be remembered as the all time WORST!

Re: Super disaster....

The whole halftime show is and was a disgrace to the "Families of America". Some people laugh that small kids were tramatized from Jackson/Timberlakes show. It was planned, maybe not by the producers, but by Jacksaon and Timberlake. Does all women walk around with their nipples covered in case there clothes fall off? Don't think so. Costume malfunction? Timberlake is probably right, both parts of her anatomy was surposed to be exposed.

If a man had exposed himself in front of all those people, he would have been rushed to jail for booking. Jackson should receive the same treatment.

Please notice that there have not been any apologies for the disgrace of the flag. That part was approved for the show. (should not have been in my mind).

If it is to be a family oriented show/game, then they should have had Nicleoden do the halftime. They would have had way more compliments instead of complaints.

The commericals were as usual, some bad and some good. Personally I think the anti-smoking commericals should be stopped. Teens of today want to do the things they are not surpose to. This is just going to make them want to smoke even more since it is a taboo.

The half time show is an example of why our teens/preteens have no respect for life and morals.

It was a good exciting game even with the more than usual commerical breaks.

Re: Super disaster....

I was equally upset about the use of our flag. I found it disrespectful. All the crotch grabbing and dirty dancing was just more bad taste.

Worst halftime show ever IMHO.

Re: Super disaster....

Yeah, I forgot about Kid Rock cutting a big hole in the flag and wearing it... That was horrendous. Like he ever had anything to do with its glory. Wasn’t there always an unwritten rule against turning the flag into clothes? I remember my (veteran) father PO'd that the stars & stripes were used for the '72 Olympic bathing suits, and they weren't even made directly out of a flag. I’m starting to sound just like him… the country is goin' to hellinahandbag.

Carp,

We call Ted Washington, Mount Washington after the famous mountain in NH...He is awesome. Even he has been giddy as a kid. Thousands of fans waited at the stadium tonight to great the team. The team was blown away. People were chanting "Ted, Ted, Ted" when he got off the bus and he was all smiles :D

Branch had a great game. He was dominant on the run blocking and some great catches. Now he knows he belongs. He is going to have a big year next year.
