I have a severely cracked support plate on my 1979 691cc (45hp) Chrysler 459h9h. Does anyone know if any other Chrysler models plate would be interchangable. I have a lead on a 1973 chrysler 458hd plate but im not sure if it would work.

The lower cowl (support plate) for all Chrysler 35, 45, 50, and 55 engines is the same.

The exceptions are the different series of 35 engine that use the same block as the 20 and 25. The only other exception is the 55,60,65 series engines with two carbs.

Just curious: Where is the crack? Did you break off the steering nose? You do realize that to change the lower cowl you need to remove the engine block, don't you?

How's this for a crack?

I bought the motor (crack and all) attached to a Bayhawk 172 last week. I was able to finagle the plate over the engine block by removing the carb, plugs, and throttle cablest.
Thanks for the quick response!
