Hi,
Thanks to all the help from you guys, I finally got my boat road worthy and ready to take to a mechanic. I took it for it's first test drive yesterday.

After we make a stop. When we accelerate, it makes a pop sound back there. Is that normal, it sounds like the brake is disengaging possibly. I'm just checking to see if that's normal. Thanks

That's often a sign of low or no brake fluid in the master cylinder. Check it. If it's a new actuator, it's possible that you didn't fill it correctly so check the instructions and do it again if necessary.

There will still be some "clunk" as the actuator actually moves in as the brakes are applied and out as they are released. Stating off a little slower will minimize this clunk.

Hi Bruce,
We did adjust the brake shoes, right before we bled them. Do we need to do it afterwards too or should it be ok? Thanks

Should be fine. There will be some amount of throw that the master cylinder has when you stop, just like you would have stepping on the brake pedal of a car. Its when it springs back that you have a small clunk. You usually only notice it when its excessive if your brakes were out of adjustment, air in the lines or a faulty master cylinder. When it is bad, you really notice it. Yours may be normal.

It's called "Bell Mouthing".

Your shoes are riding on a drum that has a "groove". Much like a record (LP).

As you stop, the shoes screw themselves into a place where they cannot go any farther. Then, they "pop" back-pressure released.

In essence, your brake drums have an affinity to move the shoes inward.

Get the drums re-machined.

Does you coupler have a damper shock linked alongside the master cylinder...... if so maybe the shock is toast and not doing its job and allowing that pop sound.
