I have an '86 Suzuki 6 - 2 Cyl. It is used as a auxiliary and is not run very often, although I do make a habit of starting it every 4 weeks with fresh fuel. It is always a great starter with just a slight bulb squeeze and a few pulls. But..
I took the boat away 5 weeks ago and connected up the fuel line and squeezed fuel up to the carb. Didn't get to use the motor and the weather was hot. Got back home dumped all the fuel and re-mixed some new stuff. Prime the bulb again and tried to start with no luck. Checked plugs (new) and they were soaked. Cranked motor with plugs removed to blow out fuel, dried plugs off and tried to start again.. Still no fire.
Kept on pulling the cord until finally it chugged slowly up to idle. Seemed to run OK after that even when shut down and re-cranked.
Do you think I just filled it with fuel and thoroughly "Drowned" it ? It seems not to be electrical as it started fine as soon as all the fuel burned up ?

hey hows it going. i would pull the plugs and see if you have good spark"blue". other than that it may have beena stuck float was fuel comming out the front of the carb? if not id say you just flooded it out.

There was fuel dripping out of the front of the carb, but I reckon that squeezing the bulb 5 weeks ago just delivered fuel to the carb that evaporated and left oil in the carb and on the plugs when I tried to start it. It wasn't long after puttting the spare plugs in that it was running. Have to try it again.

Feedback 1 week later with clean plugs and fresh fuel. Started 1st pull. Lesson.. don't leave fuel to evaporate in motor. Always run to near dry or keep fuel line attached with periodic running of motor. Otherwise petrol evaporates leaving high ratio of oil in carb. Plugs oil up and motor floods.
