BUYING A NEW GLACIER BAY CATEMERAN BOAT WITH TWIN 115 4 STROKES. NEVER HAD A SUSUKI. THEY DO NOT COME WITH COUNTERROTATION. DEALER SAYS ON A CAT IT DOES NOT MATTER. WHAT IS YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE SUSUKI, OR THE YAMAHA 4 WHICH ARE COUNTER ROTATION.

If C/R isn't an issue (I don't know on a cat) get the brand with the best dealer support near you. Both are good engines. What model GB are you getting? Nice boats

Re: suzuki 115 4 stroke

I have one 115 Johnson on a 17.5 ft bowrider and it is an excellent O/B so far. This is just the Suzuki motor painted white and sold through the Johnson dealers. It runs real well (starts everytime, quiet, good on gas, lots of power and very smooth delivery) the only thing I have run into is that there are not a lot of aftermarket props available for them. They run a 2.59:1 reduction in the final drive that allows them to turn a 14" wheel. The gearcase however is only 4.25" and it is difficult to find props in these dimensions. Otherwise I am very happy with mine.

Where are you located? Salt or fresh water? I would like an Isle Runner but haven't priced them.
Enjoy your new boat.

I have a pair of 115's on a cat (though not suzuki) and they are not counter rotating and have no steering problems at all, except a slightly better turn to one side but not really an issue

I WILL BE ON SALT WATER IN THE WINTER AND LAKE MICHIGAN IN THE SUMMER. THE ISLE RUNNER IS ABOUT $75,000 FOR A 2006 AND $65,000 FOR A 2005.

NOT YET. STILL PONDERING. YAMAHA WON JD POWERS SATISFACTION AWARD IN 2004 FOR ITS 4 CYCLE, AND SUSUKI WON IT IN 2005. PLUS AND MINUSES ON BOTH. TOUGH DECISION SINCE ITS NOT EVERY YEAR YOU BUY A NEW PAIR OF MOTORS.

I've seen less complaints on the Suzi but probably fewer units out also. I have a 115 John/Suzi with 160 hours and very happy with it.

A question for JRJ...
What are you running for a prop? and on what kind of boat.
