I have a 15HP 4 cycle Suzuki that I need to change the oil and filter on before I put it into service this Spring.

I expect I can do this work myself but after a very quick look at the motor(in storage in the basement at the cottage) last weekend, I couldn't see where the oil filter was.

Can anybody give me some guidance on this - where do I get at this filter and is there anything special I need to know/do to change the oil and filter...?

Many thanks.

P.S. What should a new/replacement oil filter cost? (I heard they could be around $25!)

I got pack of 3 on eBay for $7 shipped :) ( this is for 2006 DF9.9 )
The filter is buried on the side ( rounded cap with 3 bolts)

Thanks Lifeisfun - never occurred to me to check ebay - so thanks for the great tip!

Can you be a bit more specific on the location of the oil filter housing - same side as carb or ??? I wsas looking for a 'screw on' cartridge so guess I was on the wrong track.

And how you open up the housing - sounds like you just loosen the 3 bolts and the 'cap' pops open... and there's the filter cartridge...?

You have to remove both side covers and the filter is located on oposite side from the carb.
