I have a Suzuki 25HP, which I use as a spare engine.

I used it some time ago, when I was working in very shallow water. The prop hit the river bed and I stopped using it.

I started up today and there is no water coming out of the water cooling vent, apart from a few very hot drips.

I suspect the water flow is obstructed somewhere with sand/silt from the river bed.

Is there an easy way of trying to clean it out or do I have to dismantle it and check/renew the impeller/waterways.?If I have to dismantle it, how do I do it? Is it straight forwad as I don,t have a manual?

Thanks

Brian

Re: Suzuki 25HP

you have a fried impeller. You need to drop the lower unit and take the impeller housing off. Inspect and put a new impeller in. It is not difficult, but a manual will make you more confident. There are a few bots by the anti-ventilation plate on the motor. You will take these out and shimmy the lower unit out. I would do a search on this site, I am sure there is detailed info. good luck
