I have owned a 1985, DT75, 75 hp Suzuki since it was new. A few years ago, it didn't have any power out of the hole, or plane off. I changed plugs, gas, fuel line, had the carberators rebuilt and had compression checked. Mechanic had no way to check electronics. It will start and idle fine, and rev up to 4,000 rpm's. When you put it in gear, it will bog down. Put someone up front and it will eventually plane off, but only run 20 mph, where it used to go 42 mph at 3,800 rpm's. Great shape, just won't run. Is it electronic? Owners manual said check drive shaft or propeller. They're fine. Serial # 606084, DT75, 07501

Sounds like you are dropping 1 cylinder. Begin at the beginning. It has to be either spark, compression, or fuel. Find out. By the way if you got 42 mph out of 3800 rpm your boat/engine is seriously overpropped. Recommended max rpm for WOT is 5600 rpm.

How do your spark plugs look? Is one real clean?

Those engines were known to pop a head gasket from time to time.

Thanks for the information. I did replace the plugs and went with fresh gas. I will check the compresion and the head gasket. Thanks again.
