I am working on a suzuki DT 75. I believe it is about a 92 model. Any way, a friend brought it to me for a simple carburetor job, so I acid dipped the carbs and thoroughly cleaned them, and installed new carb kits. When I started it, it ran great for a few minutes when I noticed that it wasn't getting water through it. I then replaced the impeller but it still didn't get water, so I pulled the thermostat cover off and it shot water over the engine, and it died. The ignition is firing, it is getting fuel, but it will not start. I noticed that the fuel was premixed so I flushed it and put fresh fuel in it. Compression is 115 pounds in all cylinders, and it still won't start even when I spray fogging oil in it. The plugs have also been replaced, ngk b8hs. Please give me some pointers.

Suggest pulling the fuel line to the carbs, pump till fuel comes out, hi pressure air in carbs. Check the fuel screen at the rear of the engine. Sound like a fuel issue. Also, check fire on all plugs, pull each ground and turn it over. You also may have a failed CDI unit. If fire in one but not the others, most likely CDI unit.

I pulled the fuel line, blew air through the carbs. and it has fire in all plugs.

Was the engine running when you got hold of it? If it has spark, timed properly, and fuel mixture and compression it has to go. One of these is missing. Ususally if you squirt fuel into the carb throats with a properly timed spark the engine will fire if not run. You say you have spark, maybe the flywheel key has sheared and the timing is off.

By the way, whats up with the acid dip. Aluminum and brass are very susceptible to acid and I would not want my orifices (carb orifices that is) etched with acid. Stick to carb cleaner and compressed air. If its not the spark or the timing, gotta be the carbs. Do another cleaning/rebuild.
