I am a newby to this forum and hope someone can help.

I have a Suzuki 1996 DT115 EFI that just cuts out after cruising @ 4000rpm for a few minutes. On restart(which take a few goes) it only runs on 3 cylinders but seems to run on all 4 for a brief time if the throttle is opend wide before cutting out again. It did cruise after stopping the first time OK @2800rpm to get me home.

I have checked fuel supply - seems OK
Checked spark - seems OK

Three spark plugs are the correct colour, the 4th is very grey with some white spots in the electrode. that is from # 3 cylinder.

The motor is not overheating, the battery is new(checked it state of charge again), there were no warning buzzers.

Motor has done an easy running 380 hours.

I just don't know where to start but naturally am very worried.

Can anyone help me?

Tomsuzy

Re: Suzuki DT115 EFI TROUBLE

I'd say that #3 cylinder, with the grey/white spark plug electrode, is running lean.. Keep running it that way, you'll trash a piston or score a cylinder wall...

I'd look at the fuel injector for that cylinder.. The injector could be faulty, dirty, or the electrical connection could be so-so...
